We are a AU wizarding school site based very loosely on Harry Potter. We allow only original characters but the houses you may be sorted into are the same. Here we believe that with a little bit of magic and charm anyone can make it as a wizard so why not see what might await you?
Somehow it had become Teresa's thing to annoy her older brothers and appear on their doorstep without giving them a warning first. After doing some research - as in sending her parents an owl - she found out the adress where Nate was living. It was kind of late already, so she just hoped that the ministry had normal working hours because it was cold.
"Brother dear, it's your favorite sister!", she exclaimed loudly after ringing the bell. She had no idea what her brother's living situation was like but it couldn't be too bad when he worked for the ministry, right?
tag: @nate ooc: i just want them to interact because they both aren't in the other family thread
She smiled at him, when Nate opened the door and stepped inside. "Oh, I've been amazing. I kind of slacked on going to my classes but I met that cute girl on the day I returned from Brazil and I have a date with her later this week, so everything is fine", she said without taking a breath.
That was when she stopped and turned to give her brother a quick hug. "I decided to couch-surf at my older brother's places, so I hope you don't mind me staying the night because I certainly will do so. I've already been at Arlo's the other night, so it's your turn", she added an explanation for her visit and smirked. "How is adult life, as bleak as I imagine it to be?"
Slacked on going to classes? He lightly laughed that off as he continued to listen to what she had to say.
"Adult life is amazing, you can come and go as you please. Do who and what you want when you get ready and the only real concern is what you need to do in order to make sure where you live and what you are going to eat is in order. Bleak is not exactly a word that I would use but to each their own."
He was glad to hear that Arlo seemed well, as he expected the rest of his siblings to be too.
"You are welcome here any time, no invitation needed though I, myself am not always here."
"Wow, you sound like a real adult", she noted after he explained her how he viewed adult life. "Still, you are more bound by society's expectations when you are an adult than we you are younger. Not everyone can make the best of being an adult, because they are stressed out." Fair enough, she didn't know a lot of adults, except for their parents and her older brothers but well.
"No worries, I know how to pick a lock", Tess said but quickly made sure to laugh it off. It was true, but she didn't want her brother thinking that she would break into his home. Too much effort. "I assume, when you do what and whoever you want, it could get pretty awkward if I do lock the door and you turn out to be home", she said and grimaced. Gross.
"If it turns out to be a whoever there will be something hanging on the door."
That was an old college trick but it turned out it was a whole lot more useful than getting caught. As he thought about college everything seemed hectic at first but after the first year it was able to fit it all in. Pick a lock? Wait she had said pick a lock.
"Can you pick it in under thirty seconds?"
He did not know why such a bad and troublesome skill intrigured him currently but it did to say the least.
"I think if it takes you longer than that then you're bad at it."
She arched an eyebrow. There were a lot of things she had just said and her brother was most interested in her ability to pick a lock? "Can I pick it in under thirty seconds?", she repeated his question and tilted her head. At his next question, she pulled a bobby pin out of her hair and flashed a smile at Nate.
"Challenge accepted, I will pick your lock. Take my time, will you?", she said and turned around to head back to the front door. Without another word, she stepped outside again and shut the door. "Say go!", she shouted and looked at the lock, it didn't look too hard to pick.
He was both proud and worried at the same time about his sister. Still he liked that she seemed to have spunk that his other siblings seemed to lack at times or maybe they were just that quiet. However a challenge was not something to be backed down from.
he said. He thought for a second and finally spoke.
She bend down and picked another pin from her hair. When Nate said go, she started working on the lock and honestly, it was even easier than it had looked, a few swift hand movements and the door sprang open. "Hm? Impressive, right?", she asked her brother and curtsied, chuckling.
"You can open most doors with a credit card though. Just take it and slide it through the side of the door, then you should be able to open it with a jolt", she explained and shut the door behind her again. "Not that I engage in breaking and entering. Not yet at least, you never know what the future holds.... maybe you shouldn't tell mom and dad about my skills though, I'm not sure if they'd be too pleased about it."
It took her a moment to understand what her brother just said not because she was slow but because she wouldn't have expected it from him. "How rich are we talking?", she asked a little hesistantly. The reason for her hesistance was, that she wasn't entirely sure if Nate was kidding or testing her.
"I'm in. You couldn't pull something like that off by yourself, could you? As you saw, I'm a genius when it comes to picking locks. And I'm a genius on many more levels", she said after another moment and a sly smirk played around her lips.
Her smirk turned into a genuine smile when she realized that Nate was really being serious. Okay, maybe breaking into someone's house and taking things wasn't legal but it was definetly a kick of adrenaline and besides, she got to spend time with her brother so hey, this was a win-win situation. "You can count on me."
She arched an eyebrow when Nate went on about how he could introduce the two. "You know that I am a people's person, right? She's going to love me so much, she won't want to go out with you anymore." Vain? Maybe a little. The girl had a high opinion of herself it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. "And then I will have to get into her pants so that we actually have access to the house... Let's just hope that that doesn't happen, my mommy issues aren't bad enough for me to do something like that."
"She's not pear enough shaped for you to worry about wasting your time trying to get into her pants. Her face is a bit awkward and well all around I just think it would be a bad decision but if she ends up being your type then hey that will make it easier for me to feel less guilty if that makes sense."
He laughed at the thought.
"We can do it after all this christmas bullshit is over, if that is okay with you?"
"You should at least pretend that you don't want me to woo older women. But really, I don't need that, there are enough cute people who are my age", Teresa waved it off and discarded the idea. It seemed kind of gross anyway.
"Yes, that sounds like we have a plan. I'm going to put burglary on my New Year's resolutions", she smirked and thought for a moment. "So, you are going to do the planning and I'll just help you do the deed, right? And at the end of the day, that woman will never know what hit her." She raised her hand, expectingly, for a high-five.
